Live Botanical is a small batch botanical skincare line local to Portland. With almost all ingredients regionally sourced, and the rest through vetted ethical global partners, the freshness and efficacy of these herbal concoctions are unmatched.

Backed by heavily researched formulations and high standards of quality, in our opinion this is one of the best plant based skin care lines on the market. Due to their high standards and small batch quantities we are one of a select few businesses that use this beautiful line professionally!

                                                 What is slow beauty?

Slow beauty is a lot like it sounds-unrushed, gentle & thoughtful. Leaving behind harsh or unnecessary ingredients and instead using the power of plants and botanicals to nurture the skin, coaxing it in the right direction, not forcing. Slow beauty means using gentle yet effective techniques and harnessing the science of whole plant phytonutrients to uplift instead of stress our skins natural landscape.

 

  What can I expect?

Our approach includes thorough intake, thoughtful curation of products based on your specific needs, no harsh peels or actives and gentle extractions when necessary (if it needs force, it's not ready & could do more harm than good!). We focus on hydration, calming reactive skin, natural enzymes for gentle exfoliation/cell turnover, potent antioxidant rich serums, and restoring the skins microbiome. Your body and skin are incredibly intelligent. We just help to move things in the right direction.

What's included?

All Spring Tides facials include a double cleanse, exfoliation, personalized masks and serums, hydrating layers, warm compresses, facial Gua Sha or cupping to reduce puffiness by promoting lymphatic drainage, as well as plenty of neck shoulder head/arm & hand massage. Our facials may shift slightly with the seasons- including seasonally specific products, smells, and add-ons. We use LB body oil or our own blend of essential oil infused body oil for massage, but of course have an unscented version available!

Other things of note

As always, not every product/line is fit for every skin. Botanical formulations contain a wide variety of plants, herbs, mushrooms and essential oil compounds (sunflower oil, rose, chaga, to name a few). If you have allergies to nuts or seeds, any herbs or other plant based products, it is essential to peruse Live Botanical's ingredients or reach out to me for clarification/questions to be sure this line is right for you! If you are in search of something more that we don't offer, I am happy to refer you to other talented estheticians in the area that can address your needs.

About Facial Cupping/Gua Sha​

Facial Gua Sha is not the same muscle scraping technique often used in massage. When done on the face we use flat warmed stones and light pressure in a specific pattern to promote lymphatic drainage (like lymphatic massage!) The goal is to move stagnant lymph fluid from the face to reduce puffiness and help move along cellular waste. I have completed 20 hours of continuing education on the science and technique of this work, and continue to take classes annually.

Facial cupping serves a similar purpose, but the suction of the cups adds a plumping/stimulating effect on the skin which is why we opt for cups in the Celestial Glow facial. Facial cups are always moving, never left in one spot so there are no marks!
